Drummer, artist, and bartender David Kitz can now add lamp designer to his resume.
The Venice, LA-based artist came up with the prototype in a ceramics class while at art school. After having taken so many fine art classes, "I was excited to design something utilitarian," Kitz says. "The L-Lamp showcases the aesthetic qualities of the industrial parts being used: the lightbulb, the cloth cord, the plugs, and the rotary switches. Whereas many lamps are designed to conceal their mounting apparatuses, sockets, and lightbulbs through the use of lamp shades and casings, the L-Lamp puts these parts on full display." Handmade in Los Angeles, the L Lamp contains a carbon filament light bulb and porcelain socket mounted on handmade ceramic base. To learn more, go to David Kitz Design Co.
