Oxford, England-based Annie Sloan passed up a career as a rock star (she was invited to tour with Pink Floyd) to devote herself to the domestic arts.

Sloan developed her eponymous line of paints when she couldn't find a paint that would act like limewash on furniture, creating an instant patina. Available in 30 decorative and historical colors (in shades like Aubusson Blue, Chateau Gray, Old Ochre), the paint can also be used for painting floors and for walls a matte velvety finish. For stockists, go to Annie Sloan.
