Good news for the hardware enthusiasts among us: Van Cronenburg Architectural Hardware from Belgium, a hard-to-source line of hand-forged architectural hardware favored by some of our favorite designers, is now available in the US from Garde in LA.
Scotti Sitz, the owner of Garde in LA, recently traveled through Ghent and Antwerp ("that part of the world provides the greatest amount of inspiration for the look and feel of our shop," she says), where she discovered the work of Peter Van Cronenburg. A cabinetmaker by trade, Van Cronenburg became frustrated when he couldn't source the hardware he wanted, which led him to start collecting historical pieces. He went on to open his own foundry, where he designs and creates handmade architectural hardware noted for its historical references. The line is available exclusively at Garde in the US; for pricing and more information, contact Garde directly.
Above: Van Cronenburg has created solid Old World charm for use in contemporary settings.
Above: Designers like Rose Uniacke and Vincent Van Duysen were early champions of the hardware.
Above: The line covers cabinet pulls, door handles, a few larger cabinet and appliance pulls, door knockers, and handles.
Above: The line comes in a variety of finishes, including brass, gun metal, and bronze.
Above: While Garde has a minimum order of 10 pieces for cabinet pulls, there is no minimum on door handle sets.
