Is yellow the new black? Lately we've been noticing cheery yellow-painted floors that add a jolt of color to otherwise monochromatic rooms.

Above: A minimalist Gallerist's Apartment in New Zealand designed by stylist, designer, and owner of Everyday Needs, Katie Lockhart. Because her client had a lot of artwork to hang, Lockhart decided to focus all of the color on the wood floors, and who opted for bright yellow. She used Le Corbusier's Polychromie Architecturale to help her select the pinkish color that runs like a baseboard along the skirt of the wall (and continues around the door frames).
